Introduction
Within the scope of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, it is aimed to regulate the duties, authorities, responsibilities, rights, and obligations of employers and employees in order to effectively ensure occupational health and safety and to improve the existing health and safety conditions in workplaces with more than 50 employees.
Accordingly, to carry out occupational health and safety services effectively at our university, the Occupational Health and Safety Unit, which has the necessary equipment and competence, commenced its activities as of May 2014. The primary goal of our unit is to ensure the coordination of workplace health and safety management at our university, within the framework of the vision and mission determined in line with the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331 and other relevant legislative provisions.
Our unit undertakes the identification of existing hazards and risks in all sub-units of our university, the preparation of comprehensive risk assessment reports, and the planning and implementation of short, medium, and long-term emergency action plans to ensure that safety precautions are taken. Furthermore, it coordinates the processes of providing Basic Occupational Health and Safety Trainings by our occupational safety experts and workplace physician in accordance with the legislation; maintaining the regular health examinations that were initiated on October 12, 2015; meticulously keeping the relevant records; and sharing the obtained data with senior management. All these activities aim to create the most optimal workplace health and safety environment for our employees.
Our university closely monitors legislative changes and policy updates in the field of occupational health and safety, and demonstrates a proactive approach regarding the evaluation, implementation, and continuous improvement of these changes. In this context, our university will continue to be a pioneering and exemplary institution in occupational health and safety practices.
